Mathilde Hoarau

Laboratory technician at CIRAD Reunion

Graduated from a Technological University Degree in biological engineering and agri-food at the IUT Saint Pierre, she decided to complete her training in France (Nevers) with a professional license in environmental protection to develop the link between agri-food and environment.

Her first collaboration with CIRAD Réunion was from 2007 to 2008 on the study of fruits and vegetables fly in agroecology. From 2009 to 2015, she worked as a research support technician for CIRAD, as part of Bourbon Pointu coffee cooperative. Since 2015, she is a technician at CIRAD in Saint-Pierre, where she works in the Mixed Research Unit QUALISUD. She is co-head of the microbiology and molecular biology laboratories, and also works in sensory analysis and physico-chemistry laboratories.

Since the beginning of the Interreg-V Qualinnov project in 2015, Mathilde has largely contributed to the scientific activities of the project. She participated in the implementation of the sensory analysis of coffee, in the biochemical and sensory characterization of Malagasy and Reunion cocoas and in the characterization of the quality and typicity of wild peppers from Madagascar and Reunion (extraction, CPG analysis). She also took part in the thesis work of Mathieu WEIL on Reunion wild peppers. She continues to get involved in the 2d phase of the Qualinnov project with support for pathogen analyzes on banana, organoleptic tests on Rodrigues honeys, biochemical studies on wild peppers and mycotoxin analyzes ... From the plot to the laboratories, Mathilde leads this multidisciplinary function with professionalism.

Her participation in the QualiREG network's activities allows her to "connect with all countries in the Indian Ocean area". During the mycotoxin workshop in December 2018, she met her Malagasy, Seychelles and Mauritian counterparts. "In addition to acquiring new skills, QualiREG also enables rewarding human encounters. ", says Mathilde.
