South Africans teacher-researchers visiting Reunion Island

The South African delegation visiting Reunion Island.

Under the Protea project about anthracnose avocado and mango, a visit by two South African professors, Lise Kortsen (University of Pretoria) and Dharini Sivakumar (Tshwane University of Technology) is provided in March 15-23 of 2016.

A seminar has been organized to present them the work done and several student presentations have been supported :

  • Ms Séverine Persello (D. Phil 1st Year) : "Structural-functional modeling of yield and fruit quality of the mango and integration of the effects of cultural practices"
  • Ms Marie Rothé (D. Phil 2nd year) : "Impacts of weed management on biological control in citrus orchards"
  • Ms Mathilde Capelli (D. Phil 3rd year) : "Analyzing alternate bearing of tropical fruit crop using the costs of reproduction. The example of mango tree"
  • Ms Faïza Soulé (Master) : "Characterization of the microbial flora associated with mango anthracnose"
  • Ms Maude Ducrocq (Master) : "Alternative post-harvest treatments for mango anthracnose and fruit fly"
  • Mr Bastien Barral : "Black spot of pineapple in Reunion Island" (video-conference from Stellenbosch University)
